A one-hour workshop for 4th grade and up to build and perform scarf marionettes. The scarf marionette is a deceptively simple puppet originally designed by Albrecht Roser.

Hugo Cabret: The Magical World of Automata
This program was to celebrate the release of Martin Scorsese’s film Hugo, based on the award-winning book The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. A hands-on creation project, for kids grades 3 & up, to make their own "automata" based on the mechanical figures of the 1800s, a central subject of the book. This project was preceded by a talk by Jere Ryder, Conservator of the Murtogh D. Guinness Collection of Mechanical Musical Instruments & Automata at the Morris Museum.
